Virgil Berlin (They/She)
I’m a student psychotherapist in my third year of a Prof. MSc. in Systemic Psychotherapy. Systemic therapy, for the uninitiated, is a more inclusive way of saying “family therapy.” Considering families have a plethora of varied structures, ranging from close friends, to polycules, to nuclear families, it appears reductive to limit “family” to only those social systems featuring with a father, mother, 2.5 children, and a dog. In practice, this means that systemic therapy has an understanding of systems as open, mutable, and mutually affecting.
A bit about myself: I’m polyamorous, disabled, transfem, queer, AuDHD, and an immigrant. As such, I believe in a therapeutic space that allows for the exploration, expression, and communication of LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent aspects of the self with all that entails.
Through my professional, academic, and lived experiences, I’ve found the importance of having a therapist who does not colonize your experiences and act as an expert in your life. It’s my position that we’re all learning from each other, and, consequently, staying curious to others’ experiences is vital. I am inspired by humanistic, attachment-focused, narrative, and dialogical therapeutic modalities. My professional and academic training has placed a special emphasis on understanding power, privilege, and intersectionality. I seek to create a safe and comfortable environment where opportunities for curiosity and understanding within a given system can be created, where you are able to explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges in a supportive space.
Virgil works fully online and will offer in person sessions soon. Virgil works primarily with couples and families, but can work with individuals as well. They work with teens and adults.
Trainee’s therapists fees are 25 euros per session. This fee structure ensures that we can cover operational costs while providing accessible mental health care.
