Laura Hall (She/her)
I qualified as a person centred counsellor and psychotherapist in 2022, and have since continued studying on different areas that are of benefit to my personal growth and to support the clients I work with. I am qualified to work with children and young people, as well as people who have experienced adoption/fostering. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and an accredited member with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.
I live in Aberdeenshire in Scotland, but work with clients online across Europe. One of the benefits of working online/remotely is being based in my local area is not a prerequisite for working with me! I work with a diverse group of clients, and welcome anyone for a chat about how counselling may benefit them. I will always have an honest discussion on if I feel I will be the best counsellor to work with you, and if not, will be able to give you details of colleagues who I feel would be a good fit.
For me, person centred therapy (also known as client centred, and is a humanistic approach) is a space where there are no expectations on what is discussed or the pace that it is brought, and where my client can explore their emotions and experiences without fear of judgement. Sometimes talking with someone who is outside of your life can help you see the way forward, or to see the situation with more clarity. All I ask is that you try and be as open as you can be with me, and be open to let me know what is working for you or not whilst in therapy.
I specialise in working with Borderline Personality Disorder/Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (BPD/EUPD), neurodiversity and clients from the LGBTQA+ community. That doesn’t mean that is all I work with – please reach out and see if we would be a good fit! I welcome any person (12 years+) who wants to get to know themselves better, and to work through any issues they have faced or are currently facing.
I love the freedom that I can have with working for myself as a counsellor, which also benefits my clients. I have clients who have started sessions weekly, and later reduced to fortnightly, and then monthly. I have people who I work with on an adhoc basis – once the relationship is strong, I have no issue with being there as and when needed, with no regular sessions in place. I love the flexibility of finding the right way of working for each client, so that you can get the most out of your time working with me.
Part of the reason I chose to study and work with clients as a therapist/counsellor is due to my own journey with my mental health. Through working with mental health professionals on myself, I have been able to rebuild my life, and make my journey into one where I can now help others. I live with ADHD and BPD myself, which gives me a lived understanding that I have since backed up with additional training on the topics.
I know what it feels like to struggle, to be burnt out, and be lost, not knowing where to turn. I have been there, and I now want to help you to live the best life that you can!
