Sally Cunnane (she/her)

I offer a trauma informed, inclusive and affirming space where your whole authentic self is welcome. You can show up as you are, and we can work together in a way that feels safe to you. Building a therapeutic relationship is like forming the strong roots of a tree - it is from this solid foundation where you can grow and flourish. Art therapy with me is a space where you can expect to feel seen & heard and held in compassion. I will be right there with you each step of the way.

A little bit about me

I identify as queer, autistic, dyscalculic and dyspraxic. I am a pre accredited art therapist, in the final year of my Masters in Art Therapy training in MTU Cork. I have a rescue whippet named Peggy who you may meet online with me! She’s somewhat of a therapy dog.

I am curious about the intersections of trauma history, queerness and neurodivergence, and how this shows up for us individually. I am particularly interested in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and utilising Polyvagal Theory to help befriend our nervous systems. I also have a (special) interest in nature-based art therapy practices.

What is art therapy

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy and works in a neuroscience informed way, underpinned by psychodynamic theories and person centred approaches. It is grounded in the understanding of how the brain and nervous system process and

respond to art making. Through creative expression, using a non-verbal approach, art therapy can access problem solving and regulation. It can provide sensory feedback, working in a somatic body based way.

It is important to say you don’t have to have any experience with making art, and there is absolutely no good or bad art in this space. It is about you and your process and together we can build new pathways.

I truly believe in the transformational power of art therapy. Your art and subconscious knows the way.

Sally offers online sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Trainee’s therapists fees are 25 euros per session. This fee structure ensures that we can cover operational costs while providing accessible mental health care.
